LTA mixer, seeing Nick, kicking ass
Tonight was fun and productive. I attended the Lawrence Technology Association mixer and met up with Nick F, the first time we've seen each other in 3+ years. He's doing great and all. We played phone tag every 6 months the whole time I was at college and I'm glad that period is over with.
This LTA mixer was neat. It's an organization working in conjunction with state, county, and city agencies and KU to provide business strategy help and startup funding for high tech startups. They've helped get a number of local companies off the ground and their success is really amazing. I was extremely impressed by the speakers from the LTA and the larger state organization, KTEC. It seems like a fantastic service, and it turns out that Kansas used to have progressive and forward-thinking policies, at least in this instance.
I spoke with Nick a long while after the mixer and barely made a dent in covering things. We need to get together a lot more and hopefully will from now on. I'm checking to see if he can attend the Friday seminar tomorrow. I think it's a demo of our NetOctopus product. It doesn't matter much — Nick seems interested in seeing the place and what is all going on as well as saying hi to the 2 or 3 people he knows.
As for tonight, I'm at work. I was inspired by the passion of the LTA speakers to come back here and kick some ass on my own projects. Well, my usual interop testing project and the test portal mockup.
And I did kick some ass. I worked out the details of pipelining tr69 commands and re-matching the results to the input commands. That will speed up the detailed parameter testing 2-3x. I expect it will cut in half the time for a complete test of a CPE.
Also I did some beautifying and cleanup on the test portal mockup for the demo tomorrow. It looks really nice but I can't take credit for that. Still, I think I'm doing an excellent job of making it slick and usable with css and javascript. I'm learning a lot and surprised at how well it's going.
Well, back to work!
